USCIS Civics Prep
No account · your study data stays on your device

Privacy Policy

Last updated:

USCIS Civics Prep (the “App”) does not require an account and does not send your study data to any server. The App displays ads via Google AdMob; data collected by Google through that SDK is described below.

Information stored on your device

To make the App useful between sessions, the following information is stored locally on your device using Apple’s on-device storage (no cloud sync):

  • Your selected interface language and translation preferences.
  • The U.S. state you selected (used to fill state-specific question answers).
  • Your study goal, target exam date, and reminder time (if you enable reminders).
  • Your progress: bookmarked questions, questions answered correctly or incorrectly, and counts of incorrect answers per question.
  • Theme preference (light/dark) and other interface settings.

This information is removed when you delete the App or clear the App’s data through iOS settings.

Advertising

The App uses the Google Mobile Ads SDK (AdMob), which may collect:

  • Your device’s advertising identifier (IDFA on iOS) — only if you allow it via Apple’s App Tracking Transparency prompt. Otherwise non-personalised ads are shown.
  • IP address, coarse location derived from IP, device model, OS version, language and similar technical data.
  • Ad interaction events (impressions, clicks) used to measure ad performance and prevent fraud.

Google acts as an independent data controller for the above. See the Google Privacy Policy. In the EU/UK, ad personalisation is gated behind a consent prompt.

Notifications

If you enable study reminders, the App schedules local notifications on your device. These notifications are generated locally by iOS — no notification content is sent through any server.

Data we (the developer) do not collect

We do not ask for and do not receive your name, email address, phone number, contacts, photos, microphone, camera, or precise location. We do not run analytics of our own and we do not sell data. The only third party that receives data through the App is Google, in its role as the AdMob provider, as described above.

Children’s privacy

The App is not directed at children under 13. Because the App displays third-party ads, we do not knowingly enable ad personalisation for users under 13.

Third-party content

The civics question pool is the official 128-question 2025 USCIS Civics Test (M-1778), published by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. The App is not affiliated with or endorsed by USCIS or the U.S. government. Spanish translations of question text are unofficial and provided for understanding only — the naturalization interview is administered in English (with limited 65/20 special-consideration exceptions). Senator, governor, and state-capital data is current as of the date noted in-app and updated periodically; for the most current information visit uscis.gov/citizenship/testupdates.
