Frequently asked questions

Is this the official USCIS test?

The app uses the official 128-question 2025 USCIS Civics Test (M-1778), the version operative for naturalization applications filed on or after October 20, 2025. The app is not affiliated with or endorsed by USCIS.

The real test is oral. How does the app practice that?

The app's Interview mode reads each question aloud (text-to-speech) and lets you type any acceptable answer — fuzzy-matched against the USCIS-published list. You can also browse the questions in Learn mode if you prefer reading.

Does the app work offline?

Yes. All 128 questions and the senator/governor/capital lookup are bundled with the app. State data updates ship over the air without a new App Store download.

Why is the senator wrong?

Senators, governors, and the Speaker/President/VP/Chief Justice can change between elections and appointments. We refresh state data and live-data links periodically, but if you spot something stale, email us — we ship updates to your phone within a day. For the absolute current list, USCIS maintains uscis.gov/citizenship/testupdates.

Do I need an account?

No. There is no sign-in or cloud sync. Your bookmarks, wrong-answer history and practice attempts are stored on your device.

Are the Spanish translations official?

No. USCIS publishes the 2025 test in English only. The Spanish in the app is unofficial — provided to help non-English readers understand what the question is asking. The actual oral test is given in English (with limited 65/20 special-consideration exceptions).

Why do I see ads?

The app is free, and ads are how we cover hosting and development costs. We use Google AdMob, which respects iOS App Tracking Transparency and EU GDPR consent. You can review or revoke ad personalisation any time from Settings → Ad privacy options.

I think this answer is wrong.

Email us with the question number. We cross-check against M-1778 (the official USCIS document) and ship corrections in the next update.
